12 WEEK UPDATE | 22 Goal for turning 22

Hiii,

If you read this original blog back in February we’ll then hey! If it’s your first time seeing this, I’d advise going back and reading this one first (I’ll link it here). It’s been 12 weeks since I turned 22 and have a lot of exciting but also very realistic updates on how things are going! This is a long one so you may want to grab a cuppa for this one lol. Feel like it should be a podcast rather than a blog it’s that long hahaha…

1. Continue journalling.

I said I was on an 18 day streak on the date of the original upload… little did I know a week later I would go wayyy down hill. I have journaled 4 times since… not a negative but the entire point of an update is reflection. This is something I’m going to give more TLC to. I’m in the process of building a morning routine and I am making this a part of it. Next time when I check in I will have an 84 day streak. Watch this space.

2. Build that god dam savings.

This has been making positive progress! I set myself the goal to put away a minimum of 20% each month and I’ve exceeded this! Absolutely chuffed with myself and I’m going to continue with this goal for the rest of the year. Very proud of myself with this one.

3. Obvs travel Australia…

“I would love to visit: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide”. Unfortunately no progress on this goal yet… key word being yet.

4. Fuel my body.

Again one I’ve made nice progress towards! Everyday for the last 5 weeks I’ve managed to eat my 5 a day, take my multivitamins and magnesium supplements and drank at least 2L water. This is the exact kind of progress I wanted to make! Focusing on health over anything else! I had 3 great weeks in the gym and 3 with no gym at all. Part of this problem was that we couldn’t get signed up to the gym at work… that problem is now fixed and no excuses to not make the next 12 weeks great for progress! Delighted with this one.

5. Enjoy having a job that doesn’t come home.

Whoop whoop! Major progress on this one! I go to work in the morning and I come in the evening and that’s it. I literally can do whatever I want and think about whatever I want to think about! It’s so weird! For anyone who is self employed you’ll get what I mean when I say that. Very happy with my progress here on this one!

6. Go back to Disney.

Two points of progress with this goal… 1. Disneyland Paris in September is a maybe right now. Strong maybe. However nothing booked but would love to have this done by my next update/reflection! 2. I’m now a qualified Official Disney Travel Agent!!! I got my travel agent certifications back in March and have been working throughout April in my lovely spare time after work on completing Disneys official travel agent modules to get all the information required to make the best out of a Disney holiday! I’ve completed my Walt Disney World module and have started the Disneyland Paris one at the minute. Very very proud of myself and still very excited about booking future holidays and writing blogs with all this new information!

7. Find the golden blogging routine.

This has been the biggest win out of all the goals in this update! I have uploaded every Tuesday and Saturday for the last 12 weeks, without fail. Travel Tuesdays are definitely the most popular of the two but I still love writing my lifestyle bits on a Saturday! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I write these with no expectation of people reading them. I write them for myself. If people want to read then it’s a bonus! 24 uploads and 854 views later I’m very proud of achieving this goal, especially this early into the year!

8. Try a new activity every month.

“Every time I have stepped out of that zone I haven’t regretted it. Excited where this goal will take me”. Well, this goal has definitely taken me places lol. In February I moved to Australia. March I said yes to starting my travel agent certification, which I am still shocked but equally excited about. In April I agreed to have an impromptu road trip which isn’t a big deal to some people but for me I’m a planner… I didn’t plan a thing. We jumped in the car and figured it out as a we went along. Im glad we did because we found a beautiful hidden beach, stopped in an amazing local fish and chip shop and watched the sunset in a town we didn’t even think of going to. I’m very excited to see what activities I can get up to in the next 12 weeks!

9. Go to bed and get up at the same time.

Nailed it. While we’re at work I’m going to sleep at 8:30pm and waking at 4:30am. Religiously. I love it. On our week off I try not to disturb it too much and stick to allowing and extra hour later morning and night. Which is giving me 8 hours sleep on work nights and 9 hours on my week off! Glorious. I honestly cannot recommend this goal enough to anyone. My hormones have chilled out a lot. Like I mean a lot. If I’m upset I can usually figure out why pretty quickly, because I’m not overwhelmed with tiredness! I’m also in tune with the circadian rhythm which has a lot of scientific backing behind the benefits of this. This is a goal which will be sticking around for as long as I can!

10. Have an emergency fund.

Chipping away nicely at this goal too! I have a direct debit going into an account I don’t use and just letting it do it’s thing. Who knows when I might need it, but I know it’s in the progress of having it there! I don’t have a specific amount for this goal but rather an ongoing ability to fund it until it needs to be used.

11. Travel home.

Flights are booked! We are going home in August!!! We are travelling home for 17 days. We are beyond excited for some time at home, enjoying our friends and families company! I have some really fun plans with the girls to have a little spa get away and catch-up. We have a family wedding which will be amazing getting to see everyone. Then a lot of coffee and garden centre dates in the pipeline with granny that I’m most excited for! As I mentioned before a possible maybe of a trip to Paris with a few friends/fam… very happy about this progress!

12. Keep my screen time below 6 hours.

“My screen time averages between 7-9 hours each day”. I’m getting there !!! My average screen time last month was 6 hours 21 minutes. This is pretty good if I say so myself! That’s nearly 3 hours I’ve cut out per day! I have now ordered myself a book to take to work with me to reduce this time a little more. If your thinking why is she using her phone at work… we sit around a lot waiting for work to be ready for us and sometimes this can be 6 hours of the day! I’ve made great progress on this goal and have new support in place to make even more progress!

13. Live my life in the present.

I feel like this one is a bit static with progress… on my week off I’m definitely living my life in the present and being spontaneous and enjoying every second of life! However I am still stuck in my ways while I’m at work. I’m working on changing this by instead of focusing on what to do on my weeks off, I’m starting to focus on what I am doing right now. I am working. I am grateful for having a job. I am grateful to be working in a beautiful country. You get me? It’s a work in progress but that’s why I set these goals for the year!

14. 30 minutes outside everyday.

Again I haven’t quite ticked this goal off everyday but have made positive progress! On our week off we go for a 4-5k walk every night, even if we’ve been out and about all day. It’s our way of debriefing our brains before bed and being very grateful for the beautiful city we are living in and each others company! It sounds very mushy but it is a really lovely place in my life at the minute. It’s something I really encourage others to try with the partner, friends or family! Whilst we haven’t been going to the gym at work the last 3 weeks, we have went for a 30 minute walk instead. Averaging 5 walks per week, if I can get this up to everyday by the next update I will be happy!

15. Learn how to use my camera.

Yeah. This one has made no progress. I’m using my camera more but still haven’t sat down and learned how to use it properly… Now that I’m saying this, I need this to change in the next 12 weeks. There’s nothing stopping me from taking 10 minutes in the evening off Instagram scrolling and learning how to use my camera.

16. Spend more meaningful time with people.

I mentioned about our walk in the evening and this is a result of cutting out the phone… it’s so easy to get distracted from having real conversations with the people in your company if your phone is on you. I’ve started leaving my phone at home going for these walks and it’s made all the difference. Jordan will bring his just incase but keeps it in the pocket! I’m equally happy I made this goal as I am to the progress I’ve made fulfilling it!

17. Try a new food each month.

February I tried some Spanish paella which I had never tried before! It was delicious. Chorizo and chicken, spicy goodness. I’ve always went for the safe option and I had this goal in mind when I ordered it and did not regret it! March I had some Greek doughnut balls from Donut Worry in Northbridge. Can’t say they were my favourite texture for a doughnut because I prefer light and fluffy but the taste did not fail! April I gave pork a go again. At home I’ve just given up trying to like pork other than it the processed form of ham, bacon or sausages. The canteen at our work had an Asian pork dish cooked up for dinner and it smelled incredible. I kept my goal in mind and put it on my plate… very pleasantly surprised!

18. Enhance my content creation.

I’ve made a different and unexpected type of progress on this one. I’ve changed my view on social media quite a bit over the last year and has recently changed a little bit more. I deleted TikTok in August last year because I was getting sick of the negativity and drama on it. Recently I’ve realised with Instagram, the people I love following the most are people who post what they want, when they want. There’s no structure. It’s just a little diary of pictures and videos. This is what I’ve taken under my wing the last month. I’m posting because I want to scroll back in a couple years time and be excited all over again by what I was once excited about posting! Rather than a tool to promote, I want to use it as a photo diary.

19. Learn how to bullet journal.

I haven’t made any progress on this goal except for buying the journal lol. In all seriousness though, I bought it then left it in Perth for 3 weeks so really I have no excuse to not start this month.

20. Brush up on my Irish.

I’ve made a little progress with this one. It’s gonna be a slow but steady flow for progress with building up this knowledge again! I’ve started following an Irish page on Instagram and using little phrases here and there in conversation to keep them fresh!

21. Make 4 figures from social media;

This goal has become a little icky for me. I think it become that way when I realised how I wanted to use social media. I am still a BA for a few brands which I love but I just don’t feel like push promoting them how I intended when I initially wrote this first blog. I want people to use my code and be inspired to shop through my link because they enjoy my blog community and use the products anyways. Rather than pushing sales I want it to be more organic.

22. Buy less material things.

I have gotten good at this! I have been going plenty of shopping lol but not very much on material things. Rather, things like skincare, haircare, body care, staples. Basically products that will be used up and not wasted.

All in all if you made it this far then I really appreciate your time. I loveeeee this style of blog, long, chatty, personal vibes. If you know me personally you’ll know I love a good DMC.
