Walt Disney World Plan and Prep | Things you may miss | Park & Dining reservations | Park bag

Hiii,

It’s been a whileee since I wrote a Disney blog. It was around this time last year that I got the head down and started planning for our June trip… this is not too early this is almost too late! Do not be fooled by how much planning goes into a Walt Disney World Florida holiday. If you’re spending a lot of money going there and for it to possibly be a once in a lifetime holiday, MAKE THE MOST OF IT!!!

I could write a few blogs on this but here are my top 3 non-negotiable plan and prep tips to have the most magical time when you arrive!

Reservations (Parks and Dining):

If you watch Disney vlogs then you’ll be well aware of the park and dining reservations… I’m going to write this as if you have no idea! Basically you can’t actually get into WDW without a park pass. Yes, even if you have paid for your ticket, if you have not downloaded the Disney World app and booked your park for each day of your holiday, you will not get in. On this note before selecting and booking your parks I highlyyy recommend downloading the app and having a look at all the things you might want to do at each individual park! On our 14 day ticket we spent 3 days in Magic Kingdom, 2 days in Epcot, Hollywood Studio’s, Animal Kingdom and 1 day in Typhoon Lagoon. Feel free to give me a text on instagram if your confused or need any help, I was super confused too lol. Moving on to dining reservations! You do not need to do this because there are lots of quick service options in the parks which are basically fast food cafes! However, if you’re like me and are a foodie you will need to book your restaurant dining 60 days in advance! These bookings go very quickly so you need to be on the app for 10am UK time 60 days before the day you would like to dine in the restaurant. Just to add to the planning you have to ensure you are booked into the park that the restaurant is based in. I know…I know. Some dining we did and absolutely recommend is: Space 220 in Epcot and O’Hana for breakfast in the Polynesian Resort beside Magic Kingdom! We done quite a bit more eating out but these were our favourites!

Park Bag:

Simple and effective. You’ve done all the admin like your reservations now for the fun part… holiday packing. My favourite! Jordan brought a backpack to the parks, this was ideal for keeping our insulated water bottles (free water refills all around the parks, to save you some money), waterproof zip pouches with our passports and park tickets, ponchos for the water rides/ down pours lol and last but certainly not least SUNCREAM! To make life easier for ourselves I also wore a bumbag to keep our phones in on rides, power bank and cash. This made life so much easier because everything we were using regularly was easily accessible, instead of rustling through the backpack after every ride. Each to their own but we found this worked a dream!

Itinerary:

I say the word itinerary and it sounds really strict and that’s not what I mean… I mean a well thought out plan that you are okay being flexible with! I wrote us out a check list for each day at each park of things we absolutely wanted to do, eat or see. This worked perfectly for us because if we didn’t get to do it on the first day we would make it a priority on our second day at that park! The key part of this itinerary is that your okay with it not going to plan… for us we didn’t get very many of our Animal Kingdom list ticked off because there was they were abnormally hot days and it wasn’t worth sacrificing our sanity standing in a 90 minute queue in forty degrees weather. You win some and you lose some. That is okay! We had planned for not getting everything done and it makes us even more excited and determined to go back! Just to add to this itinerary, I would recommend taking note of the temperatures of each day because I failed to do this and it would have definitely helped us fit more into our two week holiday! Learn from my mistakes folks…

As I mentioned I have a few more tricks up my sleeve but for now these are my absolute musts for planning a WDW holiday!
