Hiii,
This style of blog was actually one of the first blogs I ever read way back in 2012… it’s also what made me fall in love with blogs! Little did I know 11 years later I would have the confidence to write my own! Skincare is something I am always looking out for because I have fairly sensitive and spot prone skin. From 2014-2016 I struggle with acne like most teenagers and eventually when it cleared I made a point of keeping it that way. By no means are these recommendations because I’m not a specialist, I’m just writing about skincare I love at the minute.

Face Wash:
I usually go between two face washes, a standard one and one with exfoliants in it. Definitely not the correct terms but sure you know what I mean lol.
I don’t actually have the packaging to show you in the images below because I decanted them into these pouches when moving to Australia but I promise this is what’s inside: CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser with Salicylic Acid and Soap & Glory Face Soap & Clarity Face Wash.
I use the CeraVe cleanser every morning in the shower as my daily cleanser. I have used this religiously for over a year and don’t have plans to change that anytime soon. I also use this to double cleanse with when I’m removing makeup (sidetone: I would usually use The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter to melt the makeup off then use CeraVe as my second cleanse, but again I didn’t have weight allowance to pack it).
When it comes to the Soap & Glory face wash I will use this once a week to lightly exfoliate my skin. I find this works better for my skin than using an exfoliator, usually in the past when I’ve used an exfoliator on it’s on my skin would be red and irritated all day. Not an ideal position for my skin to be in. Soap & Glory have a pretty affordable range of skincare and in my experience works well on my mildly sensitive skin!
Serum:
I LOVE serums!!! They are my favourite part of skincare, but I’ve actually cut back on using them because I haven’t found the right ones for my skin yet. However, Glow Hub Scar Slayer Facial Serum has been a God send! I don’t use this all over my face, I use it on my scar on my forehead and any dead spots to target pigmentation and smooth my skin in that area. It works, I can assure you it works. Its not going to make a scar vanish but I have definitely seen significant change in the texture of my skin where my scar is and this helps makeup sit on it much better! LOVE LOVE LOVE.
Moisturiser:
This is a weird one, currently I’m using Soap & Glory Speed Plump Intensely Hydrating Day Lotion which is weird because it was one of the first moisturisers I ever bought that wasn’t simple back when I was like 14/15 and have never used it since. It came up in my snapchat memories just after Christmas and I was running low on moisturiser so I repurchased it to see if I love it now as much as I did back then. I was definitely pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoy using it! It’s definitely a basic moisturiser but it really does leave my skin with a beautiful glow and it hasn’t upset my skin in anyway so that’s always a plus! Feeling very nostalgic using it hahaha.
SPF:
Sarah Barker from Glow Tanning and Beauty the legend herself changed my skincare routine back in lockdown! Sarah talked about on her instagram stories the importance of SPF and it literally blew my mind as to why I hadn’t been using it before then! Since that first Tropic SPF I bought in 2020 I have been religiously trying out new ones to find the right one for me. I have two favourites: La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMUNE 400 Invisible Fluid and Soltan Hydrating Sensitive Protect Facial Suncare Cream With Niacinamide. Both of these face suncreams are SPF 50 because I am taking no risks of sun damage to my face. The La Roche-Posay one is a beautiful texture on the skin and I find it actually brightens my skin, but it also comes along with a heavier price tag at £19 for 50ml… steep but a gorgeous product which I don’t mind splurging on every now and again. Whereas Soltan is a Boots own brand suncream range that is significantly cheaper £5.50 for 50ml, so yeah I know… you can get 3 of these for less than one La Roche-Posay SPF. This SPF feels like a moisturiser on the skin which I love and has niacinamide which is meant to be good for maintaining moisture in the skin. Again great product especially for the price.
Face Tan:
Face tan deserves a notably mention in this routine, even though I don’t use it everyday I have noticed a massive change in my skin since using this on my face instead of body tan. If you’ve read my blog before or follow my instagram you know I’m a bBold gal til I die! I use the bBold Mist and Glow and blend with a CLEAN buffer brush. Both of these things prevent my skin from breaking out with tan on!!! Mist and Glow is non-comedogenic means “a product contains ingredients that won’t clog or block the pores on your skin” so the proof is in the science gals! Secondly, using a clean buffer brush to blend is also key to preventing the breakouts, I know its sooo easy to throw the brush into your makeup bag and use it again next time but PLEASE WASH IT! I use a small bit of face wash buff it on my clean hands and rinse with water, then pop it in the hot press to dry overnight. There actually an offer on atm for both these products for £15.25 instead of £20 when you use my code “NIAMHGFIT” (btw if you click that link it’ll take you straight to the offer hehe).
4 steps in my skincare routine may seem lacking to some but it works for me! I definitely feel like I’m missing a golden item from my routine at the minute but I’m not sure what it is quite yet? Possibly a toner? If anything changes I’ll keep you posted… instagram stories will probably see it first to be fair but feel free to follow if you fancy xo
